My life is a story and I'm the only writer
It's me
Was born in a remote highland in Vietnam and struggled to learn English during my school time, I understand how hard it is to acquire another language and how much urgent it is to be a professional and understanding ESL teacher in my country and Asian countries as well.
Language in general and English in particular are both considered as means of communication beyond the border. Once English becomes the most commonly used, teaching English is one of the hot career. However, a good ESL/ EFL teacher must meet various requirements in this potential but competitive field. As an non-native English Speaking teacher (non-NEST), I'm aware of what strengths and weaknesses are. Therefore, I focus on improve not only my English proficiency first but also my teaching methods. Personally speaking, learning a language should be a passionate and natural process. In other words, by using different teaching techniques, teachers should try to reduce students' language anxiety and highly encourage their involvement in classroom.
English proficiency is one of the criteria for a good ESL/EFL teacher, but it's not all. Be an understanding teacher is more important. Understanding means teachers completely realise obstacles and needs that students may have. Obviously, with different ages, levels and even different genders or circumstances, teachers will apply proper teaching techniques.
In short, learning English is a difficult, long-term process. On the other hand, learning how to teach English is also a complicated and permanent procedure which teachers need to keep pace with new methods and apply technology in language teaching. The mission of teacher is to turn scaffolding in the early stage to self-learning procedure.
